- After his well-to-do invalid older brother is found drowned in a garden pond, his beneficiary Tom Carter hires the Wainthropp Detective Agency to investigate Ella, his late sibling's housekeeper. The coroner's jury concludes the death was accidental, and D.C.I. Adams concurs. Although Hetty makes it clear to Carter that murder investigations are out of her line, he suspects that Ella has been pilfering from his brother's extensive collectible collections of stamps, coins, and jade, and asks Hetty to check her background. Hetty recruits Robert to pose as a wheelchair-bound South African cousin with Geoffrey as his chauffeur. As a sidebar, Janet asks Geoffrey to co-habit with him, but he is worried as to how his adopted family will react to the news.—duke1029@aol.com
