Lucy's Big Secret Greek Wedding
kgraovac21 December 2023
When a young bride-to-be needs a place to hold her Greek wedding reception, Lucy offers up the vacationing Harry's home for the occasion.

Harry's off to his college reunion of Bullwinkle State University - and he's proudly wearing the school uniform/letters: B. S. for short. It's nice they had continuity from "Lucy the Co-ed" that aired a few weeks earlier. Lucy answers the phone in a funny way: "Slave labor division". That was a new one!

The bride's name is Cleo (after Lucille Ball's cousin) and it's kind of unbelievable how high the hemlines were back in 1970. You HAVE to see the dress she's wearing! Cleo's sobbing gets annoying pretty fast though, so thankfully - like her hemline - it's a very short scene.

There is an extended dance sequence in Harry's living room that is very enjoyable, unlike some of the variety show episodes of HERE'S LUCY. It is part of the natural action of the episode. Lucy wears a flame-colored dress that totally matches her hair color. There is a pleasant naturalness about her in this scene that is very appealing. Especially the part where she is "learning" the Greek dances. Also, the Greek grandfather keeps flirting with her, and that type of scenario is always welcome.

When Harry comes back home unexpectedly, the standard 'Lucy-tries-to-hide-something' bit takes over, and someone's going to end up with a face full of wedding cake.

Not an excellent offering, but the party scene makes it stand out. 7/10.
