Nothing Extraordinary for a Burnett Guest Spot
kgraovac26 December 2023
Having both been fired, Lucy and fellow secretary Carol Krausmeyer run into each other at the Unemployment Office, they round up some out-of-work showbiz folks and put on a salute to Hollywood.

Lucy seems to be fired for the plot purposes of this episode only because of course, by the next episode she's back at the Agency without explanation.

Burnett reprises her Carol Krausmeyer character from Season 2's "Secretary Beautiful" episode but the results this time are lukewarm and lacking the sparks the earlier episode had from the two ladies' rivalry.

This one just isn't as funny. Burnett makes a boob/Raquel Welch joke in the early scene and then another one about then-Governor Ronald Reagan.

Jack Benny makes a cameo appearance in two scenes just a few weeks after having an entire episode about his autobiography.

The musical numbers in this one are nothing special. Lucy plays Marlene Dietrich and Carol plays Ruby Keeler. The finale has the entire cast and chorus doing "Singin' in the Rain" and Jack Benny strolls onstage offering $5 umbrellas for rent. 6/10.
