While filming an action sequence on the Xena crossover episode Prometheus (1995), Michael Hurst broke his arm. Iolaus' injury was therefore written into the script of "Cast a Giant Shadow" and the next few episodes of H:TLJ.
Typhon and Echidna's children are listed as the Hydra, the Stymphalian Bird, and the She-Demon, all slain by Hercules. In the old myths, their children included Cerberus the hell-hound (caught and released by Hercules), the Nemean Lion (slain by him), the Hydra (disarmed by him, with its one remaining head becoming the power source of a volcano), the Sphinx (committed suicide after being outwitted by Oedipus), the Chimaera (slain by Bellerophon), and a few lesser-known monsters.
The classical Greek villainess Echidna gave her name to a spiny anteater-like monotreme (egg-laying mammal) which is native to Australia.
Hércules and Typhon set off walking to Plinth. A plinth is a heavy base which supports a statue or vase.
One character is named Pylon. A pylon is a tower used for keeping power lines high off the ground.
