In this installment of "The Star and the Story", Frank Lovejoy plays a coach of a college football team. So far, his squad has had a great season...and much of it is due to their star, Watkins. But the Coach has learned that Watkins has broken a team rule yet again and feels he has no choice but to take the guy off the team. But there are many reasons to keep their star....the team couldn't possibly win their next game against the big state college, the aluminsts are breathing down the Coach's back for a win and he's a single-parent who cannot easily afford to go looking for another job. What will the guy do?

This is a very good installment--and much of it is because this is a common problem today as well (though I doubt if most schools would choose to do the right thing). It also is interesting because it's NOT a cut and dry situation and there are a few interesting twists. As usual, Lovejoy did a fine job and it is well worth seeing as an example of exemplary 1950s TV.
