One of the best--thanks to a good story and a great guest appearance

Warning: Spoilers
I am surprised that in the trivia section for this episode that it didn't mention that James MacArthur's (Danny Williams) mother is Helen Hayes--the lady who stars in this episode. The great old stage actress plays an adorable old lady--sort of like a non-larcenous version of the lady she played in "Airport".

The show begins with Danny's aunt (Hayes) arriving for a visit in Hawaii. On the plane, this old flirt met a nice old man, Mr. Miller (Ian Wolfe) and she has her nephew drop off the man at his hotel. Later, the guy is attacked in his hotel room and he calls Hays--asking for help. The line then goes dead and she naturally calls Danny about this. But Danno is busy and passes this off to Duke to investigate. When he goes to the hotel, a man saying he's Miller answers the door and says he's fine--and the police drop the matter--assuming the woman was overreacting or imagining the incident. But she isn't to be put off or patronized and insists Miller is in danger. When his body is found soon after, Five-O realizes she's right. But why would anyone want to kill a nice old man?! Where the trail leads is very unusual and Hayes gets a chance to do a little undercover work! I'd say more but it would spoil the show.

This show is so good mostly because Hayes is adorable and an excellent actress. It also helped that WHY Miller was killed really was pretty intriguing. In addition to Hayes and Wolfe (who ALWAYS looked like an old man and seemed to live forever), Charles Durning stars as a baddie--providing three excellent guests in one episode! See this one.

Great, Fun Story with Great Supporting Cast

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the better entries in the "Five-0" series. First of all, when you have the First Lady of the American Theatre dropping by you know it's going to be good.

Helen Hayes is just the right mix of sweet and savvy as Danny's aunt who gets caught up in a fraud and murder scheme. She's got no police experience but she uses her acting experience to help crack the case. Having her be an amateur theater actress is a nice touch. The scenes with her and James MacArthur (her real-life son) have some sweetness to them that helps make the episode enjoyable.

It's nice that they invested in some other strong supporting players as well. Ian Wolfe is one of those guys who was in every 70's TV show as "the old guy" and plays his bit well. Charles Durning is appropriately smarmy as the crooked senior home operator and Lynne Hollinger provided fine support as well.

All in all, one of the more enjoyable episodes in the series.

Helen Hayes

Whatever she was in was always made better. It's true in this episode. A pleasure to watch. Particularly in the first scene with Jack Lord b

Too bad she never made a return visit to the show.

The great Helen Hayes!

Helen Hayes played Agatha Christie's Miss Marple a couple of times, and here she does a mite of sleuthing, but then plays a key undercover role later!

Of course, Helen Hayes was James MacArthur's mother (he was adopted) and my wife and I wondered if she'd visited him in Hawaii before and the producers finally said, "Hey, if you're going to be here, you should appear in an episode!"

However she wound up being cast, she gave her normal wonderful performance as Dano's aunt.

We also have Charles Durning, who I always have greatly appreciated, notably on Evening Shade and his role as the Governor of Texas in Best Little *** in Texas. Sadly, his talents are a bit wasted in this role. Just about anyone could have played the crooked Rest Home owner. He did add a few little touches of his own, though.

The crime is also interesting, but it didn't really have to be. Any story would have been a suitable backdrop for Helen Hayes' appearance. However, they did a good job crafting a crime and a plot for her "old lady" role. Her question to McGarrett and his expression in response at the end is worth the price of the episode. :-)

I see some of my fellow fans also think highly of the episode, and rightly so! Helen Hayes!
