THE BELLS OF SHOREDITCH is the final episode of HANNAY and one which comes to offer all the ingredients we expect from this series: a murderer on the prowl, sudden death, hints of conspiracy, our hero romancing a beautiful young woman, and a battle for money. This one's about a missing gold shipment and a jilted bride, and features the great character actor John Bardon in a nice little role. And thus what has been a superior and engaging series comes to an end.

Hannay's goddaughter is due to get married to Michael Harrington. The groom's father Lord Berenger is in the maritime insurance business.
On the day of the wedding, the bride to be is stood up and Hannay goes looking for Harrington.
Hannay discovers that Harrington might had been involved in fraudulent claims. The insurance business is rumoured to have made heavy losses when the Titanic sunk which involved the loss of the government's gold reserves.
Another not so dramatic episode. There really is nothing too action packed here, it really comes across more as a sub par mystery thriller with Hannay playing detective.
