- When a useless old drunk is hired by some men to sit on some property for them to claim, the old man meets up with a young boy. The young boy gives the old man a reason to change his ways.
- British character actor Ron Moody is featured in this episode as the town drunk, Noah Beal. As this character, he lurks around the general store carrying packages for change so he can get a drink. Young Colby Eaton (Vince Van Patten) observes this and has a run-in with Noah over a quarter he earned carrying a box for Miss Kitty. In a drunken stupor Noah enters into a bargain with two hired guns to squat on a farm so a local land baron can acquire it. Meanwhile his new neighbor is the very boy Colby, who encourages the old drunk to actually farm the land he is squatting. By the end of the episode his "deal with the devil" becomes due and we find out what the old man and the young boy have learned about self respect from each other and themselves.
