At Pucket's wagon Matt tells Chester that the past three nights have been twenty below zero and it's desperately cold out, and Pucket's life is in danger from the extreme cold. But neither their breath nor their horse's breath is visible. And in one shot a fly lands on Matt's right shoulder and walks toward his head.
It's New Year's on the Kansas prairie and for the last three nights the temperature has been at -20F degrees. Yet the trees are all still fully leafed out.
When Matt and Chester approach Puckett's wagon there are some pretty steep hills nearby, but Kansas is flat prairie.
