- While cleaning the apartment, Florida finds a notebook titled "Sexual Behavior in the Ghetto" and thinks that its a sex manual. She then accuses JJ of bringing it in the apartment and yells at him for doing so. JJ denies it and when she shows it to James he has a totally different reaction and laughs it off thinking that it is JJ's way of learning about the birds and the bees. However, when James finds out that the book belongs to Thelma, he blows a gasket. Complicating things even more is the fact that she is dating a 21 year old college student.—Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>
- JJ brags about a date he has, and James pats his son on the back on his prowess with the ladies. Florida is not happy about James appearing to congratulate their son on acting inappropriately with the young girls he goes out with. In James' opinion, it's allright for boys to sow their wild oats. Then he and Florida discovers a paper in daughter Thelma's possession entitled "Sexual Behavior In The Ghetto". It was written by the 21 year old grad student that she has a date with. James hits the roof and forbids her to go out with the guy.
Florida points out that James has employed a double-standard for JJ and Thelma. "You let the wolf out of the door, but locked Little Red Riding Hood in," she admonishes him. She reminds James that their daughter is a good girl. James questions why a 21 year old man would be interested in his 16 year old daughter. He states that he doesn't have to worry about JJ coming home pregnant. Thelma is upset that her father doesn't trust her to make good judgements.
Thelma's date shows up, and James is prepared to haul off on him. The young man explains that he interviewed Thelma for the paper he wrote. The paper states that girls in two-parent households are less likely to be involved in premartial sex. It also states that fathers are very influencial in their kids' lives. James is impressed by this, and suddenly, the young man is allright in his eyes. He encourages Thelma to go out with him.
