The scene before the girls go to the McDowells for dinner is the hardest Dorothy ever hits Rose throughout the entire show.
When Blanche brings towels to Bobby the night before he and Detective Mullins arrest the McDowells, she mentions her son, Matthew. He is finally seen played by comedian Bill Engvall on The Golden Palace when Matthew comes to announce his new career in comedy.
Sophia mentions Oliver North when comforting Dorothy the night before they plant a bug in the McDowell residence. North had served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 and on the National Security Council from 1981 to 1986 when President Ronald Reagan fired him for his alleged participation in the Iran-Contra affair. North was also the president of the National Rifle Association from 2018 to 2019.
Detective Mullins tells the ladies that they have every right to refuse to let them stay at and perform surveillance from their house. This is correct according the text of the Third Amendment of the U.S. Constitution: "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law." Relatively few Supreme Court cases deal with this issue compared to other Amendments such as the First, Second, or Fourth.
When Sophia says, "Book em, Danno " She's referencing to the tv show Hawaii 5-0 Steve McGarrett would say ,"book em Danno " to Detective Danny Williams
