Who's in charge here?

Warning: Spoilers
Veteran character actor Jack Gilford shines in this episode where he plays the recently widowed former business partner of Sophia's late husband, Sal, taking the blame for their business going under. This leads to Sophia marrying him in spite of Dorothy's objections and an amusing appearance by Raye Birk as the effeminate caterer. The subplot involves Blanche and Rose starting an unauthorized Elvis Presley fan club which involves a partially eaten pork chop which results in Dorothy being kicked out. It's one of the better episodes even though it's obvious that the character of Max won't be long term.

Sophia's Wedding: Part 1 (#4.6)

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia's best friend died and she is hesitant about going to the funeral because she is mad at her husband who gambled their mutual business money away. But at the funeral he confesses that it was her husband who did it and he just covered for him. Soon Dorothy finds the two of them in bed together and they want to get married but Dorothy doesn't want to approve.

Many cute Sophia moments in this episode. Her being caught in bed with the guy was a fun scene. And the wedding was beautiful too, especially with all those Elvises. Dorothy was pretty fun too in the Elvis club as she got kicked out.

Aunt Regina
msudude2024 October 2016
Dorothy says something about having aunt Regina's phone number also when Sophia says she is going to put a curse on her.

I suppose it could be Salvador's sister she is referring to. Sophia's aunt would be too old to be alive.

Sophia only has 2 siblings: Angelo and Angela.

I guess with any show there are going to be factual errors. Especially when it is on for numerous seasons.

In conclusion, I think it is silly that a review has to be at least 10 lines. :-)

Not all reviews require 10 lines. I wish IMDb would change that.

Love for Sophia. Classic episode.

Sophia learns that her best friend Esther Weinstock has died, she and Dorothy attend the funeral in Brooklyn. Sophia encounters Max, Esther's widower, a man she has held a grudge for over forty years, but a revelation changes things.

Jack Gilford was great as Max, a very funny in a wonderfully zany episode.

Plenty of fun moments, that Elvis sequence at the start was very funny, who wouldn't want to attend that Hunka Hunka Burnin' love group, that pork chop sequence was hilarious, Dorothy's sarcasm was joyous. Sophia in bed with Max, side splitting.

It's always great when they take Sophia back a few years, it's always amazing how much you get she looks with dark hair and a bit of makeup.

Enjoyed this very much.

8/10.
