After Blanche storms into the bookstore and declares the book is filled with trash and filth, the crowd goes insane fighting over copies. It shows Sophia and Magda pulling a tug of war on a copy each trying to get it as if it were the last one, but they are doing it over a stack of more copies of the book.
Magda is surprised because there are so many books in the bookstore. Also in Czechoslovakia before the fall of the Iron Curtain, there was a wide range of books, of course, within certain political boundaries.
Blanche's sister Charmaine is supposed to be her older sister. Yet when she finally makes an appearance, it's obvious that the actress playing Charmaine (Barbara Babcock) is just three years younger than Rue McClanahan.
Magda says the only thing you like about the USA is the chilled drinks. However, in Czechoslovakia there were also a wide range of different beverages, such as sodas and juices, also Coca-Cola and Pepsi in licensed production.
