Give peace a chance.
Sleepin_Dragon1 May 2023
Rose is worried about the potential for nuclear weapons being deployed between The USA and Russia, she decides the best course of action is to write a letter asking for peace to Regan and Gorbachev, unexpectedly she gets a reply.

'Now I know how the family in Poltergeist felt,' that surely has to be one of the best one liners of all time, side splitting.

Best of all, Blanche's insight into what Rose's speech would do to the whole of America.

That dream sequence of Rose's was utterly surreal, but so funny, Blanche singing Happy Birthday, I'll never forget that as long as I live, if only Sophia had pulled her puppet out.

History sadly had a habit of repeating itself, fast forward three decades, and sadly the War in Ukraine continues, let's hope peace arrives soon.

8/10.

Letter to Gorbachev (#3.6)

Warning: Spoilers
Rose is worried about the nuclear war and writes a letter to both Regan and Gorbachev to end the feud. Then Russian diplomat arrives telling Dorothy and Blanche that Gorbachev was impressed by the letter and wants a press conference where she could read it and start discussions of peace. But it turns out they thought Rose was a child!.

A pretty funny episode. I loved the imagination of the 4 of them being at the Red Square. Greatly done.

The camping with the girl scouts was also fun, poor girls who couldn't pea in the woods! And we have a lot of great Sophia moments trying to find a thing to do for a talent show.

Poor Rose, but the letter was cute and easy to see why they thought she was a kid. But as Dorothy said it would be nice in some things if more people thought like a child.

... as Russia rages war against Ukraine.

Amazing how 34ish years later, Russia is still at it. If only Rose Nyland could unite us all!

Okay Betty, send us down some love. Relatable episode.

Rose goes Russian.

Warning: Spoilers
When Rose writes to both president Reagan and Gorbachev about her fears concerning world peace, she gets a letter from the Russian premier who thinks she's a little girl. This leads Blanche and Dorothy to become concerned about Rose humiliating herself. Meanwhile, Sophia keeps coming up with acts for a talent show, including one where she sings "Thanks for the Medicare" to which the women respond appropriately, giving Sophia a hysterically funny exit line. Rose has a very funny dream where the girls visit Moscow. In spite of all the funny lines, one aspect of the episode is quite annoyed, concerning the obnoxious little girl whose voice is truly grating.
