Bang the Drum, Stanley (#4.5)

Warning: Spoilers
Stan is going bankrupt and as Sophia gets hit on the head with a baseball at the game he took her to, he suggests to fake that she is paralyzed to get a lot of money. Dorothy suspects that it is fake and tries to have Sophia come clean. At the end she manages to do it by having some actors pose as paralyzed people.

Some great moments on the show. The best one is the denial conversation Dorothy and Rose has. Greatly written and made me laugh a lot.

Love the cat costumes Blanche and Rose have and how Rose gets chased by a dog at the end.

Sophia is awesome at this episode as well.

Stan sniffs out a cash making opportunity.

Stan is down on his luck, and once again finds himself bankrupt, he breaks the news to Sophia and Blanche at a baseball game. Sophia gets hit on the head by a ball, the accident gives Stan a few ideas about how to make a couple of easy bucks.

Boy, there are some very sharp one liners here, very well written, there are lots of cutting remarks and put downs to enjoy. Poor Rose, once again we get a further insight into her life back in Saint Olaf.

Seeing Rose and Blanche in those cat suits, wow, their figures were fantastic.

Dorothy's efforts to try and prove that Sophia is lying, that was funny, I loved the denial scene too.

It reminds you just how wonderful Estelle Getty was, it wasn't just the way that she delivered her lines, but her physical humour was a joy to watch here, so funny.

7/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Usually the doorbell ringing to reveal "Hi. It's me, Stan" can be a bit off-putting because he's one of the most consistency annoying recurring characters on any TV show. Here he takes Sophia and Dorothy to a baseball game where Sophia gets hit by a flying baseball, causing Stan to get Sophia to agree to participating in an attempted con. Of course, Dorothy steps in to teach them a lesson which results in an amusing finale. Rose and Blanche spend the bulk of the episode in costumes for the musical "Cats", leading to a few other amusing situations. But the general plotline is tacky and simply justifies the reason that the women barely tolerate Stan.
