Confined to a wheelchair, Tom is ministered to by a depressed male carer called Shirley, who is depressed because he was given a female forename and haunted by dreams of being bullied by Todd Manson at school. Linda dates Joe, the man who delivered flowers to Suze, but he is a devout Christian who eschews sex - who is also Todd Manson, who has seen the light and repented. He saves Shirley from killing himself and converts him to his religion, but when they try to convert Tom, he hits them with his crutches.
