It's widely-accepted Gilmore Girls legend that the introduction of April is also the beginning of the end for this show.
This episode is particularly disappointing because everyone acts completely out of character. Luke lies and dilly-dallies, then hurts Lorelei while seemingly oblivious to it all. He completely looses his integrity, a stand-out feature of the character of Luke.
Lorelei is submissive and non-confrontational in a way we've never seen her before. Her character arc has always been to stand her ground, even against the smallest of infractions i.e., Emily and Richard.
An heretofore unmentioned uncle to Lane is introduced and promptly never mentioned again; all to act as backdrop to Zach's finally declaring his intentions.
There could have been about a hundred ways to write this more elegantly but at this point the writers just are throwing preposterous situations at the audience to advance untenable storylines.
And it starts at the top of the show with the ridiculous notion that the (broken, remember?) church bells wake everyone in the middle of the night for a town meeting with Taylor.
A Taylor speaking from Maine, yet his nephew is still up at this hour?!?
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. I wonder how the actors managed to do this with straight faces.
