The title refers to a go-go that was a dance club for young adults in the 1960's where women wore skimpy costumes and danced inside cages.
Gidget attributes the adage 'youth was wasted on the young' to George Bernard Shaw, and, while many have also attributed the adage or something like it to the Irish playwright, no one has ever found that expression or anything like it in his writing or in anything he has been quoted as saying.
This is the only time Richard Dreyfuss appears in this series and one of many guest appearances on TV programs in which he plays a teenager. Perhaps his best remembered role as a teenager occurred not on TV, but in a movie many years later: American Graffiti (1973).
