Summaries

  • In this follow-up to the "Prime Cut" episode, a group of recovering cannibals have a relapse and make the unfortunate decision to eat an intruder who's been contaminated with an alien disease.

Synopsis

  • Johnny, Mary Beth, and Ginger are hosting a "Cannibals Anonymous" support group meeting, where they recount how they became cannibals after being stranded in a plane crash. After their personal losses following the rumours of their activities, they vow to never again eat human flesh, and the meeting disperses. However, as Johnny and Ginger attempt to resume an affair they had previously, a strange man bursts in the door, rambling insanely about someone "out to get him" before clutching his head and keeling over. The three each have brief fantasies of eating him, when suddenly the man lunges off the couch and strangles Johnny. The girls stab him to death, and they decide to eat the body to dispose of the evidence.

Later, as Johnny is reading the paper, Ginger notices the man's picture on the front page as missing, and the article indicates he was an escapee from a government facility holding him for an "unknown virus". They call the facility to try and get more information, but the scientists there trace the call and show up in haz-mat gear and take them in. At the facility, five levels underneath Springwood, the trio is locked in a cell, and told that the man they ate was a astronaut mission commander, who returned from space coated in an unknown meteorite dust that appears to be a living organism that affects changes in the host if ingested. They are shown another victim of it, who has regressed to a primitive state, and subsequently disintegrates.

Johnny proposes fooling around with Mary Beth, only to be interrupted by Ginger, until the three realize that it's a shared dream. They awaken to the scientists quizzing them about the astronaut's fate. They break down and admit to eating him. The psychologist Dr. Picard (Tim Russ) reads off the list of symptoms, which Johnny experiences before disintegrating. The girls are eventually found to be clear of the organism, but they already know too much, so the scientists mix Johnny's powdered remains into a protein shake so that they can feed him to the girls and continue their studies.

The girls begin quibbling over who's next, when Johnny's voice begins speaking from inside Mary Beth's stomach, telling her she's going to share his fate. She awakes to find it was a dream. The scientists are now trying to discover why neither of the girls has any symptoms, while the psychologist disapproves of their methods. One of the female scientists seems to be jealous of her husband's interest in Ginger. The organism appears to grow in the presence of sexual hormones, so they stage a sex scene to turn on Mary Beth, who then begins to exhibit the symptoms before turning to dust as well.

As the testing continues with Ginger, Dr. Picard tries to leave in protest, but is locked in due to the top secret nature of the project. The female scientist becomes increasingly jealous when her man begins examining Ginger, and they begin to "make up" after arguing about it. They forget to turn off the intercom when they discuss using Dr. Picard as a test subject, so he opens an air vent to allow he and Ginger to escape, however they only make back into the lab, where Dr. Picard wakes up from his daydream. He toasts the other scientists, who have put the organism in his drink, and he goes thru an extended sequences of movie quotes for the "insane behavior" phase, before awakening from this dream as well.

During the real toast, Picard puts the organism in the other 4 scientists' drinks, and decides to make a break for it with Ginger. The two junior scientists try to stop them, but are overcome and powdered, followed by the senior scientists. Ginger and Picard share a passionate kiss to celebrate as the computer announces that her resistance to the organism was due to an extended period of celibacy, and her arousal causes her to disintegrate as well, leaving Dr. Picard all alone in the base.
