A Mid-Winter Night's Dream

This is an excellent episode of the show, and right up there with the best from the first series.

It's great how quickly the Niles and Daphne plot line has become a key feature of the show, giving viewers something to invest in. The creative team played things perfectly by making Frasier the lead, but not integral to every element of the show. It's something sadly the creatives behind 'Joey' did not learn from.

Full of lovely moments and lines, this is not only a good example of a series one episode, but a fantastic example of 'Frasier' at its best in general.

This is a fabulous episode to revisit.

What You Wish For

Niles is totally captivated by Daphne. His efforts to put some romance in his sterile life with Maris have him alone for a while. Through a set of circumstances involving the preparation of dinner put the two of them at Niles' home. Frasier sees this as dangerous. Maris is out of town and he imagines all sorts of things. It's a pretty decent episode.

"I feel very comfortable with you".

A personal favorite of mine, not only is it delightful sitcom fun, more than any other episode there is a retro gothic tone as a character I REALLY identify with is thrust up against his own temptations.

Rich with symbolism and elegant touches, it never feels pretentious as it is all played for laughs but one line dialogue seriously gave me chills.
