Good but....

In one of her more famous films, Ida Lupino is trapped in a house with a maniac who could kill her at any second (Robert Ryan). Now, while watching a few episodes of "Four Star Theater", I have just seen the same sort of thing happen two more times!! Give me a break! While Lupino was a good actress and an excellent director, you'd think she'd refuse to be in the same sort of vehicles again and again.

When the show begins, Ellen (Lupino) is hitchhiking. A nice guy, Eddie, picks her up and quickly realizes she's just out of the state prison. However, instead of dumping her back where he found her, he befriends her and gives her a job. Eddie is quite a guy. However, later, out of nowhere, this 'nice guy' starts slapping Ellen around and tells her she MUST provide him an alibi…or else. And, when a body turns up nearby, Ellen is sure Eddie did it. But, being an ex-con, she isn't about to go to the cops. So what's next? See the episode and find out for yourself.

If this episode hadn't repeated an old refrain for Lupino, I might have scored this one higher. After all, it is well made.
