- If you were a vampire, what would your virtual reality game be? The murder of a software computer programmer brings Detective Nick Knight (Geraint Wyn Davies) into the world of his own nightmare. The game? To be a vampire, of course, capture various victims, increasing in difficulty.
A Detective from Computer-Ops, Linda Fulford (Diane Plotka) review's the software of the programmer and introduces Knight. He meets the co-owner, Rita Scott (Catherine Bruhier) in the game who admits to being the murderer, but where's the proof, the gun? As he plays, rising to the various levels, he discover's clues to locate the weapon, simultaneously struggling with the addictive nature of the game. His vampirism nature becomes enhanced, increasing his desires for human blood and the kill.
Detective Tracy Vetter (Lisa Ryder) and Captain Joe Reese (Blu Mankuma) doesn't believe Knight that the game and the murder are connected. With the Captain riding hard on his involvement, Knight is forced to keep playing and locating the clues on his own. Linda recognizes that the game is possible because Rita needs someone to play the game. She leaves the clues in the real world for its a challenge to her. She knows she'll win. Tracy, Reese and Linda realize the clues are an anagram and locate the place of the murder weapon.
Knight having only minutes left of the game, endures the rays of the sun to reach the church where he finds Rita. Impressed and admitting the weapon is there, Rita doesn't realize what Knight is telling her, she is caught up in her own game. He's not a detective, he is a vampire, Nicholas de Brabant. Shooting him with a cross-bow arrow and several times with the gun, he arises unharmed, with his vampirism abilities heightened, he comes close to taking her. "You should know who you're playing with!" Instead, he arrest her as Vetter, Reese and police back-up arrive. Later, he is content to break free of the game, Natalie (Catherine Disher) throws the equipment into the fire.
