When Bull Bradovich (Ed Asner) beats up a gang of tough guys at the train yard it's more than obvious that the person fighting is a double. After that Bull sustains a nasty looking bruise under his eye on the left side of his face. It is so big that it covers most of his cheek area. However when Roy Madden(William Smithers) arrives at the stadium to "help" Bull the huge bruise has disappeared. Later it reappears.
In the classic cop/bad guy shoot out in a football stadium scene Roy Madden played by William Smithers shoots Bull Bradovich (Ed Asner) at point blank range in the stomach with a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver which, understandably, causes Bull to fall to the ground as he clutches his abdominal area. After a lengthy police chase and shoot out Stone and Briggs are able to drive Madden back to the area where the shooting occurred. Bull then grabs Madden in a bear hug from behind and attempts to squeeze the life out of him with seemingly no regards to his point blank gut wound whatsoever. Additionally he lies on his side in the ambulance and discusses the case with Stone and Briggs completely unattended by the ambulance attendants for quite some time before the ambulance finally takes off.
