- Young bachelor Danny Collier gets into trouble in his quest to marry his fiancée; and thirty-year-old Lisa Corday needs Roarke's help to defeat a dangerous ghost and end a nightmare.
- "Unholy Wedlock": All Danny Collier wants is to marry his fiancée, Sue Raines. For two years he's been stopped by all sorts of silly mishaps. But at Danny's bachelor party, he gets rip-roaring drunk and winds up marrying a pretty blonde who pops out of a fake cake instead. Unable to obtain an annulment, he tries to get his new wife, Christy, to fib to the absent Roarke by claiming the marriage wasn't consummated. She refuses; but, seeing his dilemma, decides out of love for Danny to pretend she is dead so that he'll be able to marry Sue. Jailed for her apparent murder, Danny talks a fellow prisoner into letting him accompany him on his escape, only to find that the man has information on Christy. When they're reunited, Christy explains her motives; Danny, touched by the sacrifice she's willing to make for love of him, finds himself falling in love with her too, and decides to remain married to her. "Elizabeth": Lisa Corday, about to turn 30, has been having nightmares that she hopes Roarke can help her decode. Unfortunately, Roarke realizes that the nightmares have led Lisa to the diabolical 16th-century "Blood Countess" of Hungary, Elizabeth Bathorý -- whose ghost haunts a reconstructed castle on the island. At one time she and Roarke were in love, but he left her because of her attraction to evil; now Elizabeth wants revenge on him, and plans to use Lisa Corday to get it. Roarke and Lisa must work together to defeat her. Elizabeth had made a deal with the "powers of darkness" to be able to take over the body of her genetic duplicate -- Lisa -- on the latter's 30th birthday, so that she could once again live on earth. However, after a series of draining battles with the ghost, Roarke defeats Elizabeth by having sanctified the room she died in, which in the end saves Lisa and sends Elizabeth's ghost on to peace.
