Actress Joan Vohs, who plays Diane in this episode and would make multiple appearances throughout the series, was married to John G. Stephens from 1959 until her death in 2001. Stephens was the Production Manager/Production Supervisor for the entire run of "Family Affair".
Pamelyn Ferdin and Anissa Jones were the final two choices for the role of Buffy. They screen tested at Desilu Studios and Anissa Jones won the part. However, producer Don Fedderson liked Pamelyn well enough that he had her in a guest-starring role in four of the five seasons the show ran. He also hired her for a guest starring role in Fly Away Home (1966).
Sebastian Cabot wore a bandage on his hand because he sustained an injury during the filming of the 1960 television series, The Adventures of Bullwinkle and Rocky. The injury was reportedly caused by the accidental discharge of a prop gun, hitting Cabot in the hand.
