- Debra's sister Jennifer visits and announces her intention to become a nun.
- It's a good indication that something is up when Debra's sister, Jennifer, shows up for a visit with rosary beads and prayer cards as gifts for the kids. Unable to share the real reason why she is so upset with Jennifer's decision to become a nun, Debra reacts by accusing her sister of going through yet another phase and not being truly worthy of the calling to the religious life.
- Debra's sister Jennifer (Ashley Crow) drops in for a visit. Jennifer used to ride around in a bike and was a rebel without a cause. Jennifer has returned after a gap of 2 years and was in Sri Lanka for a while.
She announces that she is leaving her pot-smoking, bad smelling hippie nudist lifestyle to become a nun. Her church is sending her to African country of Zaire to do missionary work. Jennifer says that she will take her final vows in 2 weeks' time. Debra doesn't give the news too much attention and kind of ignores the whole announcement. She wants Ray to not make a big deal about the nun thing as she feels this is just a phase and temporary. Debra says that this is what Jennifer does to get attention, but she never follows through with her plans.
The attitude of the entire family suddenly changes. Ray gets more pious around Jennifer (he wants to hang crucifixes around the house and pray a lot more). Robert used to fool around with Jennifer (he got drunk at Ray's wedding and fooled around), but now can't even talk to her straight. Robert gets awkward around Jennifer and says that he has a girlfriend named Amy. Jennifer further irritates Debra when she borrows her alarm clock to get up at 6 30 am to go to the local church. Debra says that 6 30 am is when Jennifer used to go to bed in the old days.
Ray says Debra is angry at Jennifer as she is not the "good sister" anymore. Jennifer used to be the bad one, but now she is turning into someone better than Debra, and this bothers her.
Marie praises Jennifer's salads and Frank is extra courteous towards her like he is talking to the Queen. Frank wants to know what nuns wear as undergarments. Marie bakes a crucifix shaped cake for her in honor of the sacrifices that Jennifer is making for all of them. Robert can see that Debra is hurting as she is the #2 person now, like he has always been with Ray.
At a family dinner, Debra snaps at Jennifer and tells her to try giving up her lifestyle (of men, and double stuffed Oreos and the other luxuries that she takes for granted) just for a week before bragging about going to Zaire. Debra exposes Jennifer by revealing that she used to smoke, take pot, a nudist, hippie, and so on. Debra retreats to her bedroom and Jennifer follows her there. Jennifer talks to Debra and tells her she is serious and has been planning on this for a year now. Jennifer says that it was never about being better than Debra and that it was always Debra who had that competitive thing going on with Jennifer. Debra reveals that she is upset as she never had an elder sister and now Jennifer is leaving forever. Debra wanted a sister and now Jennifer is going to Zaire. She says that Ray and Robert have each other and she has no one.
