- Debra finds it hard to handle her parents' divorce.
- Lois arrives at Debra's house and announces that she and Warren are separated. Debra blames her mother for the separation and says that Lois is doing this as this is "trendy". Debra says that Lois is giving up too easy as they only tried one week of counseling. Lois says that she and Warren were never truly compatible, and New Jersey made her see that, and they had been together for 41 years. She also blames her mother for not caring about her father. Lois says that she and Warren would be much happier as friends. Lois maintains that the separation is mutual, and both are much happier now. Debra says that Lois has never tried anything for longer than it has been on a magazine cover.
Lois goes across the street and breaks the news to Marie and Frank. Marie wants the dirt, but Lois maintains that the separation is mutual, and they are both happy with their decision. Lois says that it is Debra who is more upset with their decision.
Debra was all serious when she broke the news to Ray, and he laughed. Ray tries to salvage the situation by saying that Debra was too serious when she said, "They are separated and, on a path, to divorce". Ray says that he imagined a path in the jungle with a sign saying "Divorce, this way" and "Three little pigs, that way". Debra doesn't find it amusing and goes to the kitchen to eat some ice cream. Ray is unable to understand why Debra is getting upset over something that was long coming. Debra is angry that her parents are splitting up when Marie and Frank have a worse marriage. Ray suggests that Lois and Warren split up as they kept everything bottled up inside and it exploded one day. Debra blames her mom for the divorce. She says that her parent's marriage is the one solid rock against which she could get a sense of stability. Debra says that she keeps a lot of stuff bottled up inside too and that should worry Ray. Ray disagrees and says that he drops a sock on the floor and Debra screams like a horror movie.
Robert tries to console Lois but backs off when he thinks Lois is hitting on him (she kept her hand on Robert's for a little too long). Lois was just trying to be sympathetic when Robert was narrating the story of how his ex-wife Joanne threw a party at a strip club when she got a divorce. All her stripper friends were invited.
Warren arrives at Debra's house on Ally's birthday to tell her that Lois is not at fault, and it was all mutual. Warren admits that he was the one who called time on their marriage. Warren reveals that it became harder to stay together once Debra and her sister went away to college. He also says Ray's parents have the secret. Everything is out in the open with them and they don't hold anything back. They are the ideal people to share how to make a marriage last. Debra is speechless.
