- Robert and Amy finally get married. But it's not the wedding they expected.
- Robert and Amy's wedding day arrives, but it hardly goes off without a hitch. Robert is so concerned that something will go wrong that he hides out in the men's room of the church. But the biggest problem appears to be Amy's psycho brother, Peter (Chris Elliott). Robert is convinced that his future brother-in-law is going to wreck the ceremony. Alas, he turns out to be the least of their problems. Robert and Amy are shell-shocked following their bizarre wedding ceremony, and then must endure the reception. Peter: Chris Elliott. Hank: Fred Willard. Pat: Georgia Engel. Gianni: Jon Manfrellotti. Andy: Andy Kindler.
- Robert and Amy are finally getting married. The Barones drive down to Pennsylvania for the wedding. Ray gets everyone late as he is writing the best man speech. Due to this, Ray is late getting dressed and Debra has to come in and get him dressed as everyone is waiting in the car for him. It is a 3-hour long drive to the wedding venue. Ray makes a smart remark about this being Robert's second wedding, and Robert warns him that he is in no mood for fun.
At the wedding hall, Robert hides in the bathroom, nervous. Marie enters the men's room to keep him company. He doesn't want to jinx his wedding by seeing Amy right before the ceremony. Ray is still worried about his toast and is hunting for funny anecdotes from Robert about his relationship with Amy. Peter approaches Ray and Robert and says that he has made his peace with Robert and Amy. He is looking forward to calling them his brothers. A stranger mistakes Robert for the bathroom stall attendant and hands him a tip.
Frank is upset that the bar is not an open bar, and the guests have to pay cash for drinks. Robert reminds him that Hank at least offered to pay for half the wedding (which Frank did not), and Frank retorts that he paid for Robert's first wedding and Ray's wedding and also that the bride's side is supposed to pay for the whole wedding (with a full open bar, with good quality booze).
Pat is disappointed that Amy and Robert already had sex, and hence she can't tell Amy what to "expect" on her wedding night. The priest (Chelcie Ross) is missing, and Ray thinks that it's all Peter's fault. Peter was supposed to pick him in the morning. Ray confronts Peter in the bathroom, along with Robert. Peter basically never picked up the priest and the priest gets to the wedding by hitchhiking.
Finally, everything falls into place and Robert and Amy finally make it to the altar. Hank walks Amy down the aisle but won't let her go.
Just before the "I Do's", Marie interrupts with an objection. Robert and Amy are shocked. Ray was keeping an eye on Peter, expecting an objection from him, but even he is shocked to see Marie stand up. Robert is livid with Marie and yells at her. Marie says that she tried to speak with Robert inside the bathroom, but he did not give her a chance to say anything. When Amy asks Debra about it, Debra admits that "this is just the beginning". Marie says that she is afraid that Robert is marrying Amy because of her pressure on him to get married. Marie says that she needs to keep her personal preferences aside and do what is best for her son. She was worried that Robert would wind up with nobody. Robert tells Marie that she has ruined every single occasion of his life and tells her to stay out of it.
Robert says that in the elementary school play Marie tried to change Robert's pants on stage. Robert says that Marie has a pattern, and she herself cannot see it. Marie wants to make sure that Robert and Amy are only getting married for the sake of love. She says that she wishes that she had spoken up at her first wedding to the terrible dancer woman. Marie says that Robert was happy to have her interfere when he wanted Joanna out of the house. Marie says that she has said what she wanted to say and says that Robert is free to do what he wants as it is his life. Marie finally sits down.
Finally, Robert & Amy do get married. but the couple is dazed from the events of the ceremony. Marie congratulates Amy and Robert and says that she is very happy that the 2 of them decided to get married. Marie then goes off to have dinner.
At the reception, Marie complains about the food. Frank creates a ruckus at the bar to get a free beer, and Hank steps in to spot the money ($3 for a beer) and pipe him down. Frank chides Hank for having a cash bar and says that it is not polite to stiff guests in this way. Hank calls Frank boorish. Hank takes his money back and bars Frank from the booze saying that he has had enough over the course of his life. Hank and Frank get into a yelling match and Ray has to intervene.
Pat also chides Marie for interrupting Amy and Robert's wedding ceremony and says that it will be best if she and Frank leave the wedding asap. Pat accuses Marie of being selfish and saying hurtful things without regards to other's feelings. Pat accuses Marie of being a narcissist. Pat cries to Ray that the whole wedding is ruined. She says that the whole tone of the wedding is bad and
Ray gives a nice Best Man speech and helps everyone to forget everything that went wrong. Ray uses humor to remind everyone to remember the good things in life and edit out the portions that are distasteful and not important in the bigger scheme of things. He talks about how he got cyanide for Amy as a wedding present. And if Robert was irritated that Marie interrupted the ceremony, he should till Marie interrupts the first night. He makes fun of the fact that the booze at the wedding is not paid for already and that Peter is borderline insane.
Robert and Amy have chosen a very peculiar song and dance routine.
