- Robert moves out of Marie and Frank's house to get some privacy with Amy. When Ray visits Rob's new home, he notices Robert's landlord's, Rita and Harry, behavior is similar to Marie and Frank's.
- Robert is unable to get any privacy with Amy (Monica Horan). They cannot spend time together at Marie's and Amy's roommate gets nervous around Robert. They try to get intimate at Debra's, but they don't get any alone time there either. Frank and Marie eavesdrop on Robert's conversations with Amy and that also angers Robert. Frank makes fun of the nick names they have to each other Yogi and Boo-Boo.
Robert decides to move out. Marie tries to hold Robert back by telling him that the last time he moved out was when he got married to Joanne, and that didn't end very well for him. Robert lost all his money to Joanne. Ray supports Robert and asks him to move out as soon as possible. Ray says that he hates seeing Robert miserable, as he says that he loves Robert. Robert announces his decision to Marie and thanks Ray in front of Marie for his encouragement and support. Marie is livid at Ray for interfering with Robert.
Marie blames Ray for instigating Robert to move out. Robert is all she had left. Frank also doesn't want Robert to go, as if he leaves, Frank will be stuck alone with Marie. Robert finds a place above an old couple's (Rita (Anna Berger) & Harry Stipe (David Byrd)) garage.
When Ray visits him he sees the striking similarity, they have with Frank and Marie. Rita is very protective of Robert. Rita is an excellent cook and enjoys making large meals for everyone. She and Harry fight all the time and Robert is still not allowed to bring girls over to his room. Ray tries to point out to Robert that this situation is very familiar to the Marie and Frank situation he had back home. Ray is still the favorite with Rota and Harry, when Harry finds that Ray is a newspaper columnist. Rita asks Robert to leave the food for Ray. The entire room shakes whenever Rita opens and closes the garage door.
Meanwhile, Marie is spending all her time at Ray's place. Since Robert is now gone and she has nothing to do at her own home and it drives Debra crazy. Marie is now commenting on Debra's choice of lingerie. Debra is livid at Ray and wants him to get Robert back.
Ray points out to Robert that this new place is no different to home. Robert realizes this and then decides to find a new place. Ray says that the only change is that Robert gets to pay rent now. Ray tries hard to persuade Robert to move back home. But Robert confides in Ray that he had a plan for his life and to go back home would mean that his plan was a failure. Ray supports Robert. Robert plans to get a real place, without adult supervision. Robert makes fun of Ray now that Marie is driving him and Debra crazy.
Marie and Debra are angry at Ray, but now Rita and Harry are also angry at Ray for taking Robert away from them.
