- T'Pol asks Captain Archer to join her on a mission to capture a Vulcan fugitive that escaped her years ago.
- T'Pol gets a message from the Vulcan High Command that a certain Menos has been located. She tells captain Archer he will get a message from Starfleet that Enterprise must help her, but she remains very secretive about her actual mission. Then she decides she wants Archer on the mission, because she trusts him, and tells him the story. Menos apparently was part of a group of 119 surgically altered Vulcan agents assigned to an alien planet. But many didn't want to return. T'Pol was assigned to capture seven of them, but Menos escaped her on Risa. While Archer, T'Pol and Travis take a shuttle pod to pick up the fugitive, the command of the ship falls to Trip. He seems to be having quite some trouble with that.—Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)
- Sub-Commander T'Pol receives a covert mission from the Vulcan High Command officer (Coleen Maloney), and informs Captain Archer that Admiral Forrest will be contacting him later about it. She remains tight lipped despite Archer's inquiries as to the exact nature of the expected diversion (The Enterprise will be ordered to the Pernaia system where T'Pol will require a shuttle-pod and a pilot for 3-5 days), but later meets privately with Archer and asks that he come as well (Mayweather was assigned to be the pilot of the shuttle-pod), since she needs someone she trusts. In conversation with Archer, she later reveals that she was trained 17 (Earth) years earlier in reconnaissance retrieval, and now she is to capture the only one of six surgically altered, rogue Vulcan secret agents to have evaded her. 30 yrs ago the planet Agaron sought an alliance with Vulcans. hundreds were Vulcan agents were surgically altered and sent into the corrupt Agaron society to overthrow the factions, which they did. When the agents were called back, 19 didn't. T'Pol was assigned 6 rogue agents to retrieve and one evaded her. Menos.
As Archer leaves, he leaves Tucker in command and tells him to stall the Vulcan ship coming to assist her. He doesn't want them to know that T'Pol went with Archer instead. T'Pol tells Archer that she had tracker Menos to Risa once, and had got very close to "them", but then she changed the subject to "him".. Archer, T'Pol, and Ensign Mayweather, easily track the fugitive, Menos (Bruce Davison) (who is suspected to be smuggling synthetic bio-toxins, something that he learned at Agaron), to a cantina on the icy Pernaia Prime moon. After a brief phase-pistol fight, they capture him, but are unable to leave due to a build up of acidic ice. Menos starts to play on T'Pol's sense of fairness and honor. He has a good life (he evaded Vulcans as that meant 3 yrs in a rehabilitation clinic), sustaining his family with an honest job, but apparently he is dying (from hauling spent, radio-active injector casings). T'Pol, trying to disprove his story, searches for bio-toxins in his ship, finding none.
Meanwhile, on Enterprise, Commander Tucker finds the continual interruptions of command more than he expected (he has to make several tough decisions like vaccinating the crew which would give them the "runs". Reed wants to re-calibrate the torpedo launchers and need the main computers diverted to him, but that would mean powering the main engines down, which Tucker is not OK with). It gets worse when a Vulcan ship arrives, and he impersonates Archer so as not to let the Vulcans know the Captain is away.
T'Pol also relates to Archer that she's been having recent flashbacks to her previous hunt, where she shot another fugitive (The 7th) called Jossen (Richard Wharton). Menos was with Jossen, and T'Pol was chasing both. She managed to catch & kill Jossen, but Menos escaped. Because of the Vulcan ramifications on killing (of the act of taking a life), she received "fullara" treatment on P'Jem, where her memory and emotions of the incident were fully repressed. T'Pol is horrified that if Menos is right, then she shot Jesson, when he was innocent. Back on the planet, Menos organizes an escape by starting a fire, but is recaptured by the away team when his cloaked hiding space is detected, confirming that he was indeed smuggling bio-toxins as the Vulcan High Command had indicated. On Enterprise, T'Pol offers her support to Archer should he ever be in need of it.
