Emergency! (1972)

Goofs

Nagging Suspicion

Emergency!

Edit

Continuity

After the gunman relinquishes his weapon, and the the station starts to fight the fire at 38 minutes into the episode, there are film edited segments from an earlier episode to fight the fire. The building is distinctly different, and the footage was used in an earlier episode. There is a freeway overpass visible with Marco pulling line... and the brick of the building is distinctly different, as they are pull a ladder off the rig.

Revealing mistakes

There is an "EMPTY" tag on the oxygen tank Johnny administers to the wounded police officer while in the ambulance.
When the wounded police officer is brought into the examination room at Rampart, Dr. Brackett rips the officer's shirt open to reveal his bare chest. Departmental regulations at that time (and even today) require all officers to wear a clean, white, crew neck t-shirt underneath their uniform shirt.
As Johnny was climbing down into the lion enclosure, the lion on the ledge was a young male lion, with barely any mane, and a full set of healthy teeth. But as Roy tossed down the items Johnny wanted, the lion was a larger, mature male, with a full mane, and barely any teeth left (they are missing and/or filed down).

Miscellaneous

With cats, Ringer's is given subcutaneous, just under the skin, as fast as possible. When Ringer's is given to a human, it's IV - intravenously. They need a drip rate (how many drops per second, or whatever measurement is being used). Never just open - would balloon the vein.

Anachronisms

The calendar in the parking lot booth shows the month of September beginning on a Tuesday; September 1974 began on a Sunday. The previous occurrence of September beginning on Tuesday was in 1970.
Roy at the beginning is reading a newspaper that is the same one he's reading at :36 because it has the same tear at the top of the fold but it's suppose to be a later day.

Crew or equipment visible

When Gage is climbing down into to the lion's pen, the shot changes to the lion sitting on a perch where the leash holding the lion is visible. Later shots show that the "leash" is actually a rope with a tire, one of the toys in the enclosure.

Character error

The victim who fell into the lion enclosure fell a long way, onto a concrete surface, she could've easily had a back/spinal injury. Despite this, she did not have a cervical collar applied, and was not put on a backboard, despite those devices having been in standard use since the 1960s. The victim was picked up by the paramedic, to be placed in the cage, and lifted out of the enclosure.
The station is toned out for a "Person sick at bar". Upon arrival they are detained at the door by the bouncer and Cap Stanley tells him that they are there for a sick woman. At the time Stanley hasn't yet seen the patient, so how does he know that the patient is a woman.
