- The whereabouts of a missing elderly resident of Albert Square is revealed. Arthur and Pauline have a secret that they won't be able to keep for long. There is trouble in the Queen Victoria pub.
- Reg Cox, an elderly resident of Albert Square in Walford has been missing for a few days.
The episode opens with Den kicking in the door of Reg's flat at 23 Albert Square, with Arthur and Ali in tow. Reg is out cold so Den runs to get Dr Legg who tells Den to call an ambulance.
Nick Cotton takes an orange from Pete and Kath Beale's fruit stand as he walks through the square. He stops to tell Saeed at the local shop that he can buy his cigarettes cheaper down at the market, and then heads into the cafe. He orders a bacon roll from Ali calling him a stupid turk but then invites him to play darts that night and then mentions that his cigarettes are cheaper at the market.
The square is a buzz with Reg Cox's being found the way he was. Lou is going on about it in the cafe and Sue calls her a hypocrite and kicks her out for suggesting that as Reg's neighbours, Sue and Ali should have checked on him sooner. Lou gets very upset about being called a hypocrite and Ali tries to tell Sue to be nicer to customers and to ignore their comments.
Sharon has a present for her mum Angie, and as she shows Michelle and Ian - Michelle's brother Mark comes by - scowling as usual and tries to steal an apple. His Uncle Pete catches him but then gives him the apple anyhow.
Arthur and Pauline see Dr Legg and he tells Pauline to lose weight and stop smoking. He also tells them that they have to tell Lou about Paulines pregnancy.
Sue goes off on Kathy and tips out her and Pete's tea because she thinks she is suggesting the same thing as Lou, and says to tell Lou that they aren't taking the blame for Reg. When Lou is told about Paulines pregnancy she is furious and vents her anger loudly. Dr Legg gets a disturbing call to say that Reg Cox was injured in some way.
Sue and Ali go to the Queen Victoria pub. Sue and Kath (who is working behind the bar) snipe at each other but later when Nick Cotton starts making racist remarks and insinuates that it is Alis fault that Reg wasnt found sooner Ali sees red and he and Nick end up in a fight. Den jumps the bar and breaks them up, barring them from the pub. Just as Den is inspecting the damage to his shirt - Nick's fist comes through the glass of the door.
