George Mulgrew invites Dixon along to his wedding to Rose McCallion, love unites them, religion divides them, and with Rose's father Danny set to dock on The Star of India, Dixon expects big trouble.
It's an interesting enough episode, not one of my favourites thus far, but still some points of interest.
That's a lot of people on the case of a wedding, you have to wonder how low the crime levels were in Dock Green, for every single bobby to be on the case.
I like to think George invited Dixon just to cause a little bit of mayhem, and of course the punch up follows, as you'd expect, it turns somewhat farcical at the end, just needing Sid James and Charles Hawtrey.
I wish they'd gone a little further, but that wasn't the the show was about.
Quite a subtle look at the troubles that existed, it's a very tame story, but as always it's a cosy mystery.
Some good performances, Phyllida Law is excellent, and does a rather good Irish accent, it's just a little hard to take it too seriously.
6/10.
