When the Scarecrow "hangs" the traitor Ransley, Ransley is hoisted into the air by a noose, still tied to his chair. When he is lowered, it is revealed that the Scarecrow spared Ransley's life by secretly wrapping part of the rope around the left edge of the chair's back, taking the pressure off Ransley's neck. If that were the case, the chair should have been visibly tilting to the right, yet the chair was seen straight up and down.
