The very first in a long, long run for Disney...
planktonrules21 December 2014
This is the pilot episode for "The Wonderful World of Disney"--re- dubbed "The Wonderful World of Color" after it was decided to broadcast. And, because it's the first episode, it consists of a bunch of clips showing the wide variety of shows they'll be broadcasting in the series as well as clips of Disneyland. It's all pretty much a promotional piece meant to advertise the park as well as upcoming releases, such as "Alice in Wonderland". During the show you'll see Davy Crockett and his friends sing his theme song, a clip from "Song of the South", footage of Disneyland, a clip from "Fantasia" ("The Sorcerer's Apprentice"), a complete cartoon ("Lonesome Ghosts") and some footage of what it would be like to go to outer space. All in all, it's an entertaining but strange hodgepodge of material--worth seeing mostly because of its historical value.

Even the people at Dizzy Headquarters have recognized . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . that this 1954 propaganda piece is largely unwatchable in this our modern 21st Century, boiling it down to just 2 minutes and 37.53 seconds as a "Bonus Feature" on Disc One of the two-disc 2001 "Mickey in Living Color" DVD set. Many observers have noticed that the Walnut and America's 45th Oval Office Occupant are two peas in a squad, what with all of their on-screen mental lapses from Early Onset Geezer Disease. Toward the end of this tedious less-than-three-minute exercise, Dizzy forgets the name of his most popular cartoon character, simply referring to Donald as "Duck." How sad to feel sorry for a dude gaining a whole world!
