Picking up where Flatliners left off...
safenoe11 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This was a very gruesome and horrific episode in some respects, and kudos to Diagnosis Murder for exploring the themes that the 1990 motion picture Flatliners considered. Here you have Hunter Kaskov (Hunter being a name to remember) as a medical student, who is in cahoots with Jennie Slater (Sabine Singh - who is half Austrian and half-Indian) and Max (Rob Moore), experiment with flatlining in a secret spot in the hospital.

Hunter is incredibly self-absorbed and I'm surprised he didn't cite Nietzsche or Freud to support his arguments. Hunter is also deadly, as he murdered Max by not reviving him during the flatlining process, with poor Jennie helplessly watching on. Believe it or not, Hunter and Jennie share a passionate kiss while Max is flatlining after 6 minutes or so. The Hunter drains all the blood from Max. Kind of vampirish if you ask me. To make matters worse, we learn Hunter no longer has contact with parents - now that explains his motives!

Again, the talented Victoria Rowell was missing from this episode unfortunately. I think this is the fourth episode in season 8 where she's not featured (except in the opening credits).

Incidentally, Flatliners is being rebooted for a 2017 release, nearly 30 years after the original release.
