In her dressing room, Melody Thomas Scott says Amanda looks like another actress on the show (and had called her "Vicky" in a prior scene) and points to a picture of Victoria Rowell. Rowell played Drucilla on The Young and the Restless (1973) before, while, and after she played Amanda on this show.
The story line is borrowed from Cast in Steele (1984). Michael Gleason having been a producer of Remington Steele (1982) and being the writer of this Death in the Daytime (1995)
During the years Victoria Rowell was starring as Amanda Bentley on "Diagnosis Murder", she was also playing the character Drucilla Barber Winters on "The Young and the Restless".
In the 1st scene, as it pans, there are photographs of the cast of The Young and The Restless on the wall. A picture of Victoria Rowell is seen.
This is the second time Kristoff St John has appeared; he was also in season one's, "Flashdance with Death," as a dancer.
