- Dharma is 'possessed' by the spirit of a deceased neighbor woman who never lived fully.
- When Doris Haviland, a lonely old woman from their building, dies, a mere draft at her funeral -only them and the reverend- convinces Dharma the ghost is contacting her, and in the Finkelstein world that must mean some unfinished business, such as her sexual frustration, compensated for by a hat collection. Various 'possessed' scenes follow, not in the least in poor Greg's nightmares, which drive him out of bed in his underwear, even to the cemetery. Meanwhile Greg's parents enjoy dressing up for Halloween scarecrow-style: in everyday Finkelstein hippie-rags!—KGF Vissers
- Dharma's neighbor Doris had recently died. Dharma sees Doris's statue lit up by lightening. That night Dharma is visited by her ghost. She cannot figure out why the ghost would hang around the physical world when her spirit has been released from the confines of her body.
Dharma feels guilty that she lived in the same building as Doris for 5 years and knew nothing about her. Doris collected a lot of hats and smoked menthol.
Dharma becomes convinced that the ghost of a recently deceased neighbor wants to conduct some unfinished business. Greg says that Dharma only had a bad dream and is over-reacting. Dharma finds a receipt for dry cleaning that Doris had not picked up. She also had a crochet that she was working on and is unfinished. In her diary Dharma figures that Doris never married and hence may have died a virgin. Her boyfriend died at Pearl Harbor just before he was expected to fly back home. Doris had written in her diary that she had planned to give herself to him when he returned. That's when she picked up collecting hats as a hobby.
Dharma's old neighbor wants to have sex before leaving Earth, so she invades Dharma's body to have sex with Greg. Dharma gets very raspy and smokes menthol's when she is invaded by Doris. But strangely, Dharma can't remember when Doris invades her body to have sex with Greg and has no recollection of it the morning after. Greg says that the sex was more than unbelievable. Greg refuses to believe that Dharma's body is being possessed by Doris's ghost. Dharma says that if Greg is uncomfortable with this, he needs to talk to Doris in a seance.
Abby organizes the seance and tries to communicate with Doris's spirit. The spirit never shows up. Greg says that Dharma fells guilty for not knowing Doris while she was alive and is sub-consciously role playing her. Dharma says that maybe Doris has moved on after having sex.
Dharma starts vanishing in the middle of the night and Greg finds her in Doris's apartment, seemingly invaded by Doris's spirit. Greg believes Dharma is sleep walking. But Dharma or Doris's spirit, closes the door and shuts off the lights without moving from the sofa. The next morning, Greg has a dream that his body has been invaded by Doris's spirit.
Greg apologizes to the grave & wants to be friends. This is kind of like a breakup but with a dead woman. Greg says that he is married to Dharma and is not looking for a relationship with another woman. Abby finally connects with Doris in her seance. Abby says that Doris has to respect Greg's wishes if he does not want a relationship with her. But she understands that Doris has urges. She says that she has an idea that might just help everyone.
Meanwhile Kitty wants to borrow Abby's regular clothes as a Halloween costume. Abby (Mimi Kennedy) talks to the spirit & asks it to invade Kitty & satisfy her urges with Edward. Edward doesn't question anything and simply follows Kitty into bed.
