- Dharma loves to spend the Sunday's outdoors, but Greg loves to solve the Sunday crossword puzzle. Dharma eventually goes to the farmer's market with Abby and Jane. Dharma knows that Greg's birthday is coming up and worries about what to get him for a gift. Greg is very difficult to buy for.
Dharma realizes she should have left well enough alone when Greg's birthday surprise party nearly brings the Finkelstein and Montgomery to blows.
Dharma puts "Dharma loves Greg" message in the crossword puzzle. Greg loves the Sunday crossword puzzle and reaches out the newspaper crossword puzzle guy Harrison (Dakin Matthews) and convinces him (Literally begs him, as the newspaper has a very strict policy about not putting personal messages in the crossword puzzle) to put the message as part of the answer in the next week's puzzle on Greg's birthday. Harrison is unmoved by the pleas but agrees when Dharma offers him $100.
On his birthday, Greg doesn't want to do the crossword puzzle. Dharma literally has to force him to do it. Greg wants to go roller skating, but Dharma fakes an injury while putting on her socks to force Greg to return home and solve the puzzle. Greg can't solve the puzzle as he finds it very hard.
Dharma had planned a surprise party for Greg at the country club, but it goes wrong. Kitty & Abby refuse to come to the party due to different reasons.
Kitty is angry that Edward loaned $10,000 to his ex-wife, and with that money she has started a catering business and is employed at their country club, where Dharma is hosting the party. Abby & Larry can't attend the party at the country club as the people in the club are committing environmental genocide, by constructing a golf course on a bee habitat. Larry is disappointed that he is missing out on a full buffet because of some lousy bees. He was given to understand that some rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks were also being displaced, which was not the case. Larry has no choice, but to toe the line with Abby. Meanwhile Jane and Pete agreed to bring no dates to the party. But now Jane found a hunky farmer at the farmer's market and insists on bringing him. Dharma meets Pete and tells him to get a date for the party. Pete says that he simply won't go to the party, but Dharma won't accept that as the answer.
Dharma is under a lot of stress. She leaves home to sort out the mess and asks Greg to finish the crossword puzzle by the time she is back.
Dharma gets all the warring parties in one room at the country club. She tells Kitty that Ed's ex-wife would be waiting on her, she tells Abby that by not attending the country club wins, but they forget to yell "surprise" for Greg as they are all busy arguing. The cross-word puzzle spells "Charma loves Greb". Greg loves the gift that Dharma got her, but she promises to buy him a tie for his next birthday.
