It's the only episode in the series' run to take place not over the course of a single day.
Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) says he sometimes imagines himself in his old age "running a small joint in Manchester, England." Unlike the real Swearengen, who was born in Chicago, McShane was born and raised in Manchester, where his father played for Manchester United.
Swearingen says to Farnum (regarding his potential ownership in the gold claim) "I trust you know 2% of nothing is fuckin' nothin'". Ian McShane would go on to deliver eerily similar dialogue eleven years later in Swing Vote (2015) about another deal gone wrong, saying "You've got fucking nothing. Well, to be more precise you got 3% of fucking nothing, which is still fucking nothing."
Andy Cramed says to Jane "Hereafter in calamity, I'll be sure to call for Jane". Her nickname was Calamity Jane.
Kristen Bell plays in a few episodes of the series, and is currently the star on The Good Place. Timothy Olyphant made a guest appearance on The Good Place.
