DANIEL BOONE – The Reunion - 1965
This is the 22nd episode of the long running 1964-70 series about the life of American frontiersman and explorer, Daniel Boone. The lead is played by Fess Parker. Also in the mix are Albert Salmi, Ed Ames, Patricia Blair, Veronica Cartwright and Darby Hinton.
Fess Parker and Dal McKennon are out looking for deer when they meet a man on the trail. The man, John McIntire, is looking for a woman named Becca. As it so happens, Parker's wife (Patricia Blair) is named Rebecca. It turns out that McIntire is Blair's father. McIntire has not seen Blair in twenty years. Parker takes McIntire to his cabin to surprise his wife.
The surprise is that Blair wants nothing to do with her father. She blames the man for leaving home and breaking her mother's heart. McIntire tries to explain that he was a wanted man at the time and needed to flee. Blair will not listen to a word he has to say.
Parker and Blair's kids, Veronica Cartwright and Darby Hinton, however, take an immediate shine to the colourful McIntire as he regales them with tall tales of his travels. Parker invites him to stay for a piece and hopefully he and Blair can make peace.
The boy, Hinton comes down with swamp fever and gets deathly sick. McIntire stays up with the lad and tries to help burn the boy's fever off. The boy recovers with McIntire's help and Blair forgives him for past sins. The next day McIntire disappears back onto the trail.
An okay episode, even if not all that much happens in the action department.
