- Bobby Ewing: J.R., you have one unholy knack for making every good friend you ever had into an enemy.
- Lucy Ewing: Ray, you're a fool if you're giving up me for Garnet.
- Ray Krebbs: Honey, this has nothing to do with Garnet.
- Lucy Ewing: That's good, 'cause you're not gonna have her for very long. J.R. wants her. What J.R. wants, J.R. gets.
- Ray Krebbs: Not this time. We're gonna get married, Lucy, as soon as her career's together.
- Lucy Ewing: [smirks] Well, good. That ought to be real soon now... seeing as how she signed that contract with J.R.
- Ray Krebbs: What are you talking about?
- Lucy Ewing: I was in the office this afternoon, and I saw it. J.R. has signed her to an 'exclusive service agreement'. Whatever that means. And if you've noticed, J.R. hasn't come home tonight. I expect he's out somewhere busy accepting her gratitude.
- [Ray takes this news as if hit by a blow, then puts on his hat, and grimly heads for the door]
- Lucy Ewing: Ray. Ray, wait a minute. Ray, where are you... going? Ray, don't!
- [rushing after him]
- Lucy Ewing: Where are you going?
- J.R. Ewing: Krebbs, I want you off Southfork by sun up.
- Ray Krebbs: I was gonna leave, But I think I just changed my mind about that. I'm staying now. You want me off that ranch, you're gonna have to get Jock to fire me if you can.
- Ray Krebbs: If you slip up just once, J.R., then I'm gonna be there to make sure you never get up again! You understand?
- Lucy Ewing: [to Ray Krebbs] Look, I like you to be there when I need you. And I don't like it when you're not around.
- J.R. Ewing: Does Ray give you enough?
- Garnet McGee: He gives me everything he's got. And if he had more, he'd give me that, too. There aren't a lot of men like him.
- Lucy Ewing: I want your help, J.R. I know you all just think I'm dreamin' about being a singer, but I'm not, I've got talent, I really have, I know it.
- J.R. Ewing: [interrupting] Now if I remember correctly, last year, you wanted to join a circus and put on black tights and dance on a horse's back...
- Lucy Ewing: That was different, J.R., I'm older now. I'm older.
- J.R. Ewing: No, no, it's exactly, exactly the same thing to me, honey.
- Lucy Ewing: No, it's not, J.R, please, just back me with Granddaddy. He'll let me if you say it's okay, he will.
