The Oil Baron's Ball (1983)
Linda Gray: Sue Ellen Ewing
Quotes
-
JR Ewing : [after Sue Ellen has come into his bedroom for sex, and then gets up to leave] Well, I'll be damned if you can come in here any time you want and use me like some stud-service!
Sue Ellen Ewing : What other possible use could I have for you? Good night.
-
Sue Ellen Ewing : [as they enter the ladies' room] J.R. tells me your Daddy was in the oil business too.
Jenna Wade : Oh, yes. Old Lucks Wade turned the richest fields of East Texas into dust by the time I was sixteen.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Is that why you went to Europe?
Jenna Wade : Well, it offered a lifestyle I liked and they did still think I was an heiress.
Sue Ellen Ewing : [snickering] So you left Bobby behind?
Jenna Wade : [taken aback] Uh, were you and Pam very close?
Sue Ellen Ewing : We were friends. Why?
Jenna Wade : [exhales] I just wondered whose side of the fence you were on. You know, they were divorced before I ever saw Bobby again this time.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Well, I really don't think it's any of my affair.
[it's then that the opposition comes in as well]
Pamela Barnes Ewing : [merrily chatting with Katherine and Afton] I don't know, I don't know.
Katherine Wentworth : I don't wanna think about it.
[spots their adversaries:]
Katherine Wentworth : Oh, God.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Hi, Sue Ellen. Jenna.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Hi, Pamela, how are you?
Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'm fine, thank you.
Jenna Wade : It's nice we're all trying to be so civilized, isn't it?
Katherine Wentworth : I don't think you're in any position to talk about being civilized... the way you latched on to Bobby in such a hurry.
Jenna Wade : Do you think this is any affair of yours?
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, it didn't take you very long to find him, did it?
Jenna Wade : He found me. But then, I knew him first, didn't I?
Sue Ellen Ewing : Uh, ladies, I don't think this is the proper place for an argument.
Afton Cooper : Why don't we go back to our table?
Katherine Wentworth : Afton, why don't you just stay out of this? This is between Pam and Jenna.
Afton Cooper : [finally bites back] And you?
Jenna Wade : I don't know why we are arguing. You're not married to Bobby anymore, Pam. You gave him up.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : You're right. We really don't have anything to argue about.
Jenna Wade : [smiles] Well, then, let's all go back to our tables. I'm happy with my date, Pam. I certainly hope you're happy with yours.
[leaves]
Sue Ellen Ewing : [follows, whispers:] I'm sorry, Pam.
Katherine Wentworth : [after their two adversaries have left] She's a real witch.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, she's right. I did divorce Bobby. And I'm very happy with Mark. When we get back to the party, let's have a real good time.
-
JR Ewing : [rising] Well, if it isn't the whole Barnes-Wentworth clan. Oh, by the way, Pam, what name are you using, now that you're no longer a Ewing?
Pamela Barnes Ewing : It's really none of your business, is it?
JR Ewing : Oh, well, I was just curious as to how I'm gonna introduce everybody, but... you know Jenna Wade. Jenna, you remember Pam? Bobby married her after you ran out on him.
[Jenna blanches]
Bobby Ewing : J.R., cut it out.
JR Ewing : Well, for those who don't have a program, I'm gonna have to announce all the names of the players, aren't I?
[grins]
Cliff Barnes : Don't bother, J.R, this is one night that not even you can spoil.
JR Ewing : [laughs, sits down] Now, as I was saying...
Jenna Wade : Bobby, can we dance, please?
Bobby Ewing : Oh, sure.
[gallantly leads her away]
JR Ewing : [stands up to lead Sue Ellen onto the dance floor, but forgot she isn't likely to comply... so sits down again] Well... this has all the earmarks of one of the great nights of my life.
Sue Ellen Ewing : Nothing brings out the best in you like other people's unhappiness.
JR Ewing : Gmph!
Lucy Ewing Cooper : I think Bobby might just take you apart if you keep it up.
JR Ewing : Oh, not in front of the next Mrs. Ewing, he won't.
[smiles]
Lucy Ewing Cooper : [frowns] You mean Jenna Wade?
JR Ewing : Nothing would make me happier.
[chuckles]
Katherine Wentworth : [at the opposite table] Who is that Jenna Wade? Pam was certainly upset when she saw Bobby with her.
Cliff Barnes : Oh, that's Bobby's first love. They grew up together. They were supposed to get married.
Afton Cooper : So why didn't they?
Cliff Barnes : I don't know. Well, I wasn't exactly taken into the Ewing's conference, but the way I heard it was that she jilted Bobby and then she goes off to Europe and married some count and then they got divorced. She shows up in Dallas with a daughter who's supposed to be his, but she calls herself Wade.
Katherine Wentworth : What do you mean "supposed to be"? It's someone else's?
Cliff Barnes : Well, the daughter is thirteen years old, and that's how long she and Bobby would have been married.
Katherine Wentworth : You mean it's Bobby's daughter?
Cliff Barnes : [chuckles] Well, everybody denies that... but who really knows but Jenna?
Katherine Wentworth : [smirks] It's no wonder Pam's so upset.
[looks over at the dancing couple]
Pamela Barnes Ewing : I was just surprised, that's all.
Mark Graison : Is that so? If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were jealous of Jenna Wade.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : I am not. I just don't understand why Bobby brought her here and had to flaunt her.
Mark Graison : Perhaps for the same reason we're here together. Neither one of you wanted to show up alone.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : That's not true, Mark. I really care about you.
Mark Graison : Well, then I suggest that since you and Bobby are no longer married, you try to put him and Jenna out of your mind and concentrate on me.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
[smiles up at him]
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Let's go back to the table and help Cliff celebrate his big night.
Mark Graison : Perhaps later we'll celebrate ours, maybe?
Pamela Barnes Ewing : [smiles] Maybe we should.
