- Cliff Barnes: [Cliff just caught his secretary taking down the Ewing Oil sign] What is going on here?
- Jackie Dugan: I thought now that you own Ewing Oil, you'd want to change the name.
- Cliff Barnes: Are you crazy? Not only do I want the name to stay 'Ewing Oil', but in big bold letters underneath I want it to say 'Cliff Barnes, President'! Then I'm going to take a picture of it and send it to J.R.
- [Dusty has come back with a surprise for J.R]
- Steven 'Dusty' Farlow: I see you're still wheelin' and dealin' and one-upping everybody like always.
- J.R. Ewing: Don't forget, I do control the voting rights to 25% of Westar.
- Carter McKay: Oh, right. Clayton gave them to you. They carry a lot of weight. But maybe the rights aren't enough. Don't you need the shares to go with them?
- J.R. Ewing: [grinning] Don't worry. I'll get those soon enough.
- Steven 'Dusty' Farlow: Not this time, J.R.
- [John Ross has informed J.R. of his intention to stay in England, for good]
- J.R. Ewing: [angrily] Do I have to come out there and pound some sense into you?
- John Ross Ewing: Just TRY IT! You have no legal claim on me whatsoever! Why don't you go play with James and his *stupid* baby, 'cause I'm never coming BACK!
- [hangs up]
- Steven 'Dusty' Farlow: I knew those shares were going to be more trouble than they were worth. So I was happy to sell them to Mac.
- [J.R. and Cliff have each just discovered that the other owns 50% of Ewing Oil]
- J.R. Ewing: Oh my God.
- J.R. Ewing, Cliff Barnes: [to each other] You and I are partners?
- Steven 'Dusty' Farlow: So long, J.R. Give my regards to Sue Ellen. Oh, that's right. I forgot. She dumped you.
