Stormy Tall War Tale
hellraiser731 August 2021
This is my third favorite episode of the show. It's an interesting episode as it sort of predates the film "Big Fish"; you can easily tell that Jay is obviously stretching the truth just to make his story more flavorful for the kids but that's what makes this episode funny because it's slightly true as most people can sometimes tell stories about certain experiences but embellish or stretch out certain details to make the story more interesting and flow better.

I even like there is an element of suspense, we already know Jay got out of the Gulf War alive, but we don't know how, it's just funny how Jay keeps the interest of both the kids and us the audience going.

There are a lot of memorable funny moments, from the usual media parodies, two of them were on the TV shows "Hee Haw" And "Star Trek: The Next Generation". I'll admit it was really surreal seeing the crew of the enterprise dancing to country tune and square dancing, , a lot of fans and non-fans of Trek must've cracked up to that joke.

When the news broadcasts start, we hear an ongoing audio feed from Jay and it's just funny and sad as he is constantly crying out like a whinnie he doesn't want to die, though I can't blame him who really wants to be in a warzone.

We see Jay being a war correspondent and with each ongoing newscast we see him just slowly lose his mind not so much from the war but from constant boredom in everyday coverage he must give despite nothing interesting developing and happening, this is sort of a parody and satire on the constant Gulf War Footage that was going on every TV network. When you think about it now it was pretty nuts as most of the time it was more a ploy to clamor for higher ratings.

Another funny scene of physical comedy was seeing Jay's rescue when Jay wears a rescue vest but unfortunately the chopper can't lift him, once again due to Jay's superhuman weight. Though they do manage to life him but not very far as Jay is constantly bumping and skiting on a lot of things.

Will Jay get out of the Gulf alive; you'll have to hear the rest of the story yourself to find out.

Rating: 4 stars.
