The Lawsuit
JordanThomasHall17 April 2019
The cleaner's deliveryman Frank Hausman (Lou Jacobi, "Irma la Douce") comes in with a suit and slips on Eddie's roller-skates. Despite falling roughly to the floor he seems to brush it off and says he thinks he's fine. The next morning Tom is visited at his office by lawyer Marvin Flair (Frank Corsentino). Mr. Flair says Mr. Hausman is now in a wheelchair and suing Tom for $150,000. Tom notifies his lawyer Sy Freeman (character actor Alan Oppenheimer) who reviews the incident with Mrs. Livingston. Her accounts favor Mr. Hausman, as she thinks Tom shouldn't have moved the skates in the middle of the floor. Sy feels it is now a serious situation. Eddie is afraid everything will be taken from them and doesn't understand why Mrs. Livingston isn't helping them. Tom says she is only doing what she thinks is right and it is his fault for placing them in a bad spot. Eddie takes responsibility for not putting the skates away in the first place. Mr. Flair comes to the apartment to look around and forces himself in. He says Mr. Hausman's working days are over and they are now suing for $300,000. Mrs. Livingston feels guilty for her view, but Tom reassures her. Eddie sagely questions why all the conversation is with the lawyer and not with the one the problem truly is with.

Moral: When there's a problem, address it directly at the source.
