- After a row about Susan's thoughtless inability to tell Steve whether his butt had an old mole or fresh freckles, they join the friends in the pub. Jeff arrives, oblivious he's wearing an SM mask, as Steve drags out of him from playing 'Spankman' with Julia, desperate for advice about the use of laxatives to recuperate jewelry swallowed from his irresistibly naked girlfriend. Back in her apartment, where she's handcuffed and Jeff still clue- and key-less, they freak at a knock she fears to be her parents. It's worse: her military ex Joe. Jane reveals more ways to be utterly out of touch with the world, especially her patient boy-friend, who later announces he must spend some months in Germany as radio-maker. James and Susan discover they knew each-other as wild Oxford students.—KGF Vissers
- Steve becomes unnecessarily overly paranoid that a freckle/mole might be the symptom of a terminal illness and nicknames his health encyclopedia "the Death Book," as all its contents make reference to a "life expectancy." Jane introduces the gang to her new boyfriend, James, and voices her reasons for believing Susan would steal him away from her as she learns that they are wild Oxford University alumni students that once slept together, in addition to Susan having stolen Steve from her already. In the process, James learns the complicated intricacy of who in the gang has formerly and/or is currently dating one other and Jane becomes privy to Susan's negative self-esteem regarding her body in comparison to Jane's, which Jane later aggressively uses against her. Sally and Patrick overly compensate in trying to convince everyone that they're not a couple and Patrick suggests they refer to each other as "mole buddies," instead; Sally rejects the idea, since the term of endearment makes reference to accentuating a feature of her body she is uncomfortable with. Jeff seeks advice from his friends on how to remove a handcuff key that he accidentally swallowed during an S&M/Bondage session he and Julia were engaged in; meanwhile, he learns that Joe, Julia's disgruntled ex-boyfriend from the Royal Special Forces, is back in town and may possibly seek to do Jeff harm in an effort to rekindle his former relationship with Julia.
