Sgt. Saunders gets a letter from his kid brother, Chris. In typical Hollywood fashion, the contents of the letter are read in narrative form by the writer. Chris refers to him as "Chip" a couple of times in the letter.
This is the third episode in which one of Sergeant Saunders' siblings back home is referenced. Four years earlier, in "Just for the Record", shown during the first season, part of the story had involved a 78 RPM record that Saunders received from home that featured the voice of his younger sister (who identifies herself as "The Brat:"). And also during the first season, in "Survival", Saunders, who is in a delirium as the result of being badly burned, encounters a dead German soldier who he mistakenly believes to be his younger brother, "Joey."
