Factual errors

Chic's "C'est Chic" album that features the song "Le Freak" was released August 11, 1978. Earth, Wind & Fire's album "I Am" featuring the song "After The Love Has Gone" was released May 6, 1979. The song "Last Dance" by Donna Summer was released July 2, 1978. It's on the soundtrack album, "Thank God It's Friday." This Cold Case; the flashbacks took place February 10, 1978.

Anachronisms

After the Love has Gone was not released until 1979.
The song Le Freak is heard at the disco; the fire was in February 1978 but the song was not released until September.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Toward the end, when Detective Rush is grilling Paul Chaney in the interview room, she says his actions, "drove his father to drink himself to death." As she is saying these words, the scene changes from a shot of her face to his face. When the shot switches to Chaney, Rush's mouth is visible in the upper left corner of the screen and her lips aren't moving as she finishes her sentence.
