Ned Buntline is the pseudonym of Edward Zane Carroll Jusdson (1821/1823-1886). In the 1850s, he earned $20,000 per year ($646,000 in 2018) writing stories for weekly newspapers; eventually, he earned more than Mark Twain. He wrote a "dime novel" about an unknown scout named "Buffalo Bill" Cody which turned him into a national hero. By the time he died, Ned had written more than 400 dime novels and countless articles and short stories.
